Price handmade crochet fairly: add up materials, packaging and your time at an hourly rate, then see a direct-sale price that covers platform fees and a wholesale price for shops.
Direct to customer (Etsy, markets, website)
Cost plus profit, no platform fees. Shops typically resell at about 2× ($310.00).
After materials, labor wages, and platform fees
Total earnings divided by 5.5 crafting hours

Base cost is everything it takes to make the item: materials + packaging + labor (hours × your rate).
Retail price (selling directly, for example online) adds your profit margin and then grosses up for the platform fee, so the fee comes out of the customer's payment, not your profit:
Retail = base cost × (1 + profit margin) ÷ (1 − fee percentage)
Wholesale price (selling to shops) is your base cost plus your profit margin, with no platform fee, because a shop buys from you directly. Shops typically resell at about twice the wholesale price, and the calculator shows that figure too, so you can price your own direct sales without undercutting your stockists.
A baby blanket: $25 yarn, $2 other materials, $3 packaging, 12 hours at $15/hour, a 6.5% platform fee and a 20% profit margin.
If $269 feels high, it's usually the labor, the honest cost of handmade work. Our pricing guide covers how to handle that, and how Etsy's fees work.
Base cost = materials + packaging + hours × hourly rate. Retail = base cost × (1 + profit %) ÷ (1 − fee %). Wholesale = base cost × (1 + profit %). Typical shop resale ≈ wholesale × 2.
Wholesale has no platform fee and is meant for shops, who then resell at about double. Your direct retail price adds the platform fee on top of the same cost and profit.
