There's no single official standard for crochet blankets, so sizes vary a little between sources. These presets are common sizes; the bed sizes cover a standard US mattress with a generous drop on each side:

| Crib | 36 × 54 in | A standard crib mattress |
| Toddler | 42 × 52 in | Toddler beds and play mats |
| Throw | 50 × 60 in | A sofa; the most popular size |
| Twin | 66 × 90 in | 38 × 75 in mattress, about 14 in drop each side |

The stitch and row counts use a typical gauge for the yarn weight, so treat them as a guide. For exact numbers, measure your swatch and use the gauge calculator. Our blanket yardage guide has the full yarn chart for every size.
Stitches = width × typical stitches per inch for the yarn weight. Rows = length × typical rows per inch. Yardage = width × length × yards per sq in (DK 0.87, worsted 0.75, bulky 0.57) × stitch factor (sc 1.22, hdc 1.08, dc 1.0, tr 0.88). Skeins = yardage ÷ typical yards per 100 g ball.
A common throw size is 50 × 60 inches (127 × 152 cm), large enough for a sofa or to wrap around your shoulders.

A full yardage chart for every blanket size, what changes the numbers, and three ways to estimate, including a swatch method that's accurate to within a few percent.
