Affiliate Disclosure
Many craft websites earn commission when you buy yarn or hooks through their links. Here is our current position, stated plainly.

What an affiliate link is
An affiliate link is a link to a shop that pays the website a small commission if you buy something after clicking it. The price you pay is normally the same either way.
There is nothing wrong with affiliate links. The problem is undisclosed ones, because a reader cannot tell whether a recommendation is genuine or paid for.
Our current position
We have no affiliate relationships and earn no commission from any link on this site.
When we mention a yarn weight, a hook size or a brand, it is because it is relevant to the explanation. Our reference data comes from the Craft Yarn Council standards, not from anyone who sells yarn.
The site is funded by advertising instead, which is covered in our advertising policy.
The rules we will follow if this changes
If we ever add affiliate links, we commit to the following:
- 1.Disclosure before the link, not after. Any page containing affiliate links will say so clearly at the top, where you see it before you click, rather than in a footnote.
- 2.Individual links marked. Affiliate links will be identifiable in the text, not hidden among ordinary links.
- 3.Recommendations stay editorial. A product will never be recommended because it pays a commission. If two products are equally suitable and only one pays, we will say so.
- 4.No fake testing claims. We will not claim to have tested, measured or used a product unless that actually happened.
- 5.This page updated first. The relationship will be described here, with the date it started.
Until all of that is true, this page will continue to say what it says now.

If you want to know whether a specific link earns us anything, ask through the contact page and we will answer directly. Today the answer is no for every link on the site.
