Plan a whole project in one place: starting stitches, rows, total stitch count, yarn needed, number of skeins, materials cost and an estimate of crochet time.
Chain or foundation stitch to reach 120 cm
~34,560 total stitches across piece
≈ 1,818–2,200 m (10–13 skeins)
Based on $6.50/skein + 15% notions

Starting a big project usually means jumping between several calculations: how many stitches to chain, how many rows, how much yarn, what it'll cost, and how long it'll take. This calculator does them together from a single set of inputs, so the numbers are consistent with each other.
The stitch and row counts come from your gauge, so they're as accurate as your swatch. The yarn estimate uses the same model as our yarn calculator, and it's given as a range, from 5% under to 15% over the central estimate, because tension and borders vary.
A 120 × 150 cm throw in worsted (#4) double crochet, with a gauge of 16 stitches and 12 rows per 10 cm, and skeins costing $6.50:
The time estimate divides the total stitch count by your stitching speed and shows a range, because nobody crochets at the same pace all the way through.
Cast-on = width × (gauge stitches ÷ gauge length). Rows = length × (gauge rows ÷ gauge length). Yardage = area in sq in × yards per sq in for the yarn weight × stitch factor, shown from −5% to +15%. Skeins = yardage ÷ typical yards per 100 g ball. Time = total stitches ÷ stitches per minute.
It's a planning range, usually within 10–20% for common stitches. For precision, weigh a swatch and scale it up by the project's area.

Gauge is the translation key between the designer's hands and yours. Learn how to make a swatch that tells the truth, measure it, match the pattern, and use the math to size any project.
